Profit & loss
Profit and loss shows whether you made money in the range: Revenue, minus Cost of sales, gives Gross profit; minus Expenses gives Net profit. Amounts are in your base currency.
The View box has three choices. This period only. Compare with previous period, which adds a column for the range before. Split by sales channel, which shows Counter, Online shop and a Total column. Lines booked by hand, and anything posted before channels existed, appear as Unattributed.
Balance sheet
The balance sheet shows what the business owns (Assets), owes (Liabilities) and the owner's stake (Equity) on one date. Equity includes Retained earnings (prior years) and Current year earnings. The note Assets equal liabilities plus equity confirms it balances.
Cash flow
The cash flow statement lists every movement on your cash and bank accounts, grouped by where the money came from or went: receipts from customers, payments to suppliers, expenses, VAT, fixed assets, owner contributions and loans. Transfers between your own cash and bank accounts cancel out. Opening and closing amounts agree with the balance sheet.
Trial balance and general ledger
The trial balance lists every account with its Opening balance, Debit, Credit and Closing balance for the range. The note Debits equal credits shows the books are in balance. Accountants use it as the starting point for their work.
The general ledger shows every line on one account, with a running balance. Choose the Account; you can also filter by Sales channel. Each line shows the entry number and its Source. For long ranges only the first lines are shown; narrow the dates to see the rest.
VAT
The VAT tab gives the figures you need for your VAT return: Output VAT (on sales) by rate, Input VAT (on purchases) from posted supplier invoices, and Net VAT payable (or Net VAT receivable when input is higher). Output VAT comes from the VAT on till and online sales and returns, for example at 18%.
Check the figures with your accountant before you file. Sevo does not file the return for you.
Aged payables and aged receivables
Aged payables shows open supplier invoices by how far past the due date they are: Not yet due, 1-30 days, 31-60 days, 61-90 days and Over 90 days, in each supplier's currency, with a Total (base).
Aged receivables shows on-account sales not yet paid, aged from the sale date. The oldest charges are treated as settled first.
