Why events wait
The till and the other screens never stop because of accounting. If the entry for a sale, return, goods receipt, online order or payroll run cannot be written, the business document is still saved and the event is kept under Finance → Postings with the reason.
Common reasons: the month is already closed, an exchange rate is missing for the document's currency, or an account used by a posting rule is inactive.
The Postings pending tile on the dashboard shows how many are waiting.
Clear the list
- Open Finance → Postings. Each row shows the Event, Source, Reason, Attempts, First seen and Status.
- Read the Reason and fix the cause: reopen the month under Finance → Periods, add the rate under Settings → Currencies & rates, or change the account under Finance → Posting rules or Finance → Chart of accounts.
- Click Retry on the row. The message Posted means the entry is now in the journal. Still pending shows the new reason.
- When many rows share one cause, fix it once and click Retry all pending.
Dismiss
Dismiss removes an event from the queue for good. It will never be posted automatically. Use it only when the accounting was already entered by hand in the journal.
Backfill history
Use this once if your company traded in Sevo before Finance was switched on. It posts sales, returns, voids, shift closes and goods receipts from a date range that have no journal entry yet. Documents already in the books are skipped, so it is safe to run again.
- Open Finance → Postings and click Backfill history.
- Choose From and To dates.
- Click Run backfill. The dialog works in batches and shows progress. Click Stop to pause.
- When it says Done, read the counts: Posted, Already in the books, No entry needed and Deferred.
- Deferred documents are waiting in the Postings list with their reason. Fix and retry them as above.
A month cannot be closed while any event for it is still pending, so clear this list before month-end.
