Why it matters
Stock that does not sell holds your cash, takes shelf space and can age or expire. Stock health lists these items so you can act early.
What gets flagged
Dead stock: the item has stock but nothing has sold in 90 days, or it has never sold.
Slow mover: at the current selling rate, the stock on hand would take more than about three months to sell.
Only items with stock on hand and a known cost are listed.
Reading the list
- Open Insights → Stock health.
- Choose a Location, or All locations.
- Read the tiles: items flagged, capital tied up, dead (no sale in 90 d) and slow movers.
- For each item, read the badge (Dead stock or Slow mover) and the reason under the name.
- Check On hand, Value at cost and Last sale ("never" if it has not sold).
- Read the Suggested markdown and the floor price under it.
The suggested markdown
The markdown is a price cut that should help the item sell. It grows with how long the stock would take to sell: 10 %, 20 % or 30 %. Dead stock is always 30 %.
The floor is the lowest sensible price: your average cost plus 5 %. Do not price below the floor, or you sell at a loss.
For dead stock, the reason also suggests returning it to the supplier if they will take it back.
Accept or dismiss
- Press Accept markdown to agree with the suggestion. This records your decision; it does not change the price.
- Go to Catalog → Price lists (or use the Open price lists link at the bottom) and set the new price yourself.
- Press Dismiss if you want to keep the price, for example for seasonal stock. The item is not suggested again for two weeks.
If the page says every item has sold recently, there is nothing to clear right now.
