Why this matters
Leave is counted on working days only, and public holidays are left out. Payroll counts hours worked on public holidays separately. So enter the holidays before people start asking for leave.
Add the year's public holidays
- Go to People → Leave → Holidays and working days.
- Use Previous year and Next year to pick the year.
- Press Add Sri Lankan public holidays. This adds every Poya day, the national days, Good Friday and the day after Vesak.
- Add the holidays that follow other calendars and are gazetted each year: Maha Sivarathri, the two Eids, Milad-un-Nabi and Deepavali. Enter the date and name from the government gazette, for example Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day.
- To remove a holiday, press its remove button and confirm. Leave already counted around that day is not recalculated.
Working days
Under Working days, tick the days the shop is open. Leave is counted on these days only. Most Sri Lankan shops work Monday to Saturday, which is the starting setting.
Normal hours a week
Normal hours a week is the week beyond which time worked counts as overtime. The Shop and Office Employees Act's normal week is 45 hours. Overtime is flagged on the roster and in the hours download, and payroll uses it to suggest each person's overtime hours.
Time clock settings
Staff clock in and out on the till: when this is ticked, each person can type their own PIN on the register to clock in and out, with or without a login. The times appear on the roster beside the plan.
Staff may also clock in from their own phone or computer: when ticked, people with a login can clock in from My space. Those times are marked Own device on the roster and timesheets. Untick it if you want clocking on the till only.
Both are on unless you switch them off. When the till's time clock is off, clocking in from own devices is off too.
