What two-step sign-in is
With two-step sign-in, after your password Sevo also asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and similar apps all work, and they are all free. Someone who learns your password still cannot sign in without your phone.
It is recommended for owners and administrators, because their account can see and change everything in the company. Each person turns it on for their own account. It does not change how anyone else signs in.
You find it on "My account". To open it, click your name and picture at the bottom of the left-hand menu. On a phone, open the menu first with the menu button (three lines) at the top left. The "Two-step sign-in" card shows "On" or "Off".
Turn it on
- Open "My account" and press "Turn on two-step sign-in". Keep your phone with you.
- If your phone has no authenticator app yet, install one from the app store, for example Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Both are free.
- Open the app, add an account and scan the QR code on the screen with the phone's camera. If it will not scan, type the key shown under "Cannot scan? Type this key into the app instead:" into the app.
- The app now shows "Sevo Biz App" with a 6-digit code. Type it in "The 6-digit code the app now shows" and press "Check the code and turn on".
- You see "Two-step sign-in is on." and the card shows "On".
Write the key down and keep it somewhere safe, away from your phone. With it you can add your account to a new phone later.
Signing in with the code
The code changes every 30 seconds. If you see "That code is not right, or it has just changed. Type the new one.", wait for the new code in the app and type that.
"Back to sign in" takes you back to the password screen.
If the code is never accepted, check that the date and time on your phone are set automatically. The codes depend on the phone's clock.
- Sign in as usual: enter your "E-mail" and "Password" and press "Sign in".
- The "Enter your code" screen appears. Open the authenticator app on your phone and find Sevo Biz App.
- Type the code in "6-digit code" and press "Sign in".
Turn it off
You can turn it back on at any time. You then scan a new QR code: the old Sevo Biz App entry in the app no longer works and can be deleted.
- Open "My account" and press "Turn off two-step sign-in".
- Press "Turn off" to confirm. You see "Two-step sign-in is off." From now on only your password is needed.
If you lose your phone
Without your phone you cannot sign in. Another administrator in your company cannot turn two-step sign-in off for you yet.
If you kept the key from setup, install an authenticator app on your new phone, add an account and type the key. The codes work as before.
If you do not have the key, contact Sevo support at support@webdesigns.lk and ask for two-step sign-in to be reset on your account. After the reset you sign in with your password only, and you can turn it on again with your new phone.
Changing phones? Before you give the old one away, move your accounts to the new phone with the authenticator app's own transfer or backup option, or turn two-step sign-in off and on again with the new phone.
