What categories do
Categories group your products, for example Groceries, Beverages or Apparel. On the till, cashiers can tap a category chip to find items quickly, and each product tile shows the category colour.
Categories can sit inside other categories. For example, Beverages can hold Tea and Soft drinks. The list shows sub-categories indented under their parent.
Create a category
- Open Catalog → Categories and click New category.
- Type the Name.
- To make it a sub-category, choose its Parent category. Leave None for a top-level category.
- Set the Sort order. Lower numbers appear first.
- Pick a Colour on the till, or leave Automatic to let Sevo choose a steady colour for you.
- Click Create category.
Change or archive a category
- Click a category in the list to change it, then click Save changes.
- To stop using a category, click Archive on its row and confirm.
Archived categories disappear from menus, but products keep their history. Move products to another category first if you still sell them.
Putting products in a category
Choose the category when you create or edit a product, or fill the category column in a CSV import. A product has one category.
