Several orders at once and the Orders view

Keep more than one order open on a till, name and switch between them, discard an order, and find today's receipts.

Why several orders

A customer may step away to fetch one more item while the next person is ready to pay. Instead of clearing the cart, start a new order. The first one stays open with everything in it.

Open orders show as tabs in the top bar, for example Order 3, with the number of items on each. They are kept on the device, so they survive a refresh or a restart.

Start and switch orders

  1. Tap the + button after the tabs (or press F8) to start a new order. The current one stays open.
  2. Tap a tab to switch back to that order.
  3. To give an order a name, tap the pencil next to its title above the cart, type a Label (under 40 characters) and save. Leave it empty to show the customer name or the order number.

Discard an order

Nothing has been charged, so nothing needs refunding. A discarded order that had items in it is recorded in the audit log with what was in it.

  1. Open the order and tap the bin button next to its title (Discard order).
  2. Confirm Discard order.

The Orders view

  1. Tap the Orders button in the top bar (or press F9).
  2. Under Open orders, tap Resume to go back to an order that is still open.
  3. Under Completed today, you see this register's receipts for today with the time, customer, items, total and status.
  4. Use Reprint to print a receipt again, or Refund to start a return for that sale.
  5. Tap Back to selling to return to the till.

When offline, the Orders view shows only this device's receipts.

Open orders and closing the shift

A shift cannot close while an order with items is still open. When you choose Close shift, the till lists the open orders. Open each one to pay it, or Discard it, then close the shift.
