Loyalty points

Customers earn points on what they pay and spend them at the till like money. Turn points on, choose how many a customer earns and what a point is worth, and see each customer's points.

Who can do this: Owners and store managers turn points on (the Run offers permission); every cashier gives and takes points at the till

Turn points on

  1. Go to Point of sale → Loyalty.
  2. Tick Give points to customers.
  3. Check the three numbers. The usual choice in Sri Lanka is filled in: 1 point for every LKR 100 paid, a point worth LKR 1, and points expire after 12 months without a visit.
  4. Read the sentence under What it means, for example: A customer who spends LKR 2,500 gets 25 points, worth LKR 25.
  5. Press Save. Tills get the change within a few minutes.

Points are off until you turn them on. Turning them off later stops new points; customers keep what they have.

Earning points at the till

A customer earns points only when they are on the sale. Press Add customer and find them by name or phone number, or add them there and then.

Under the total the till says how many points the sale earns. With no customer on the sale it says: Add the customer to give them points.

Points are earned on what the customer pays in money, after discounts and offers. Store credit and points spent do not earn points.

The receipt shows the points earned and the new balance.

Paying with points

  1. Add the customer to the sale and press Pay.
  2. Choose Points. The till shows how many points the customer has and what they are worth.
  3. Type how much to take (or keep the amount due) and press Take. Points are taken whole: with a point worth LKR 1, LKR 25 takes 25 points.
  4. Pay any rest another way and press Complete sale.

The till does not take more points than the customer has. If the till was offline and the customer had spent their points elsewhere meanwhile, the sale stands and is marked for the manager to check.

Returns, voids and expiry

A return takes back the points of what came back: returning a third of a sale takes back a third of its points.

Voiding a sale takes away the points it earned and gives back the points it spent.

Points expire when a customer has not bought anything for the months you set (0 means never).

See a customer's points

  1. Go to Point of sale → Customers and open the customer.
  2. Under Loyalty points you see the balance, what it is worth, and each change: earned, paid with, taken back, voided or expired.

Points in the books

The value of the points customers hold is kept as money owed to them (Loyalty points outstanding, 2450) and taken out of sales (Loyalty points, 4210) when the points are earned. When a customer pays with points, the points outstanding go down. Expired points come back to sales.
