Gift cards

Sell gift cards at the till, let customers pay with them like money, check what a card holds and add money to it.

Who can do this: Every cashier sells and takes gift cards; managers see all cards under Point of sale → Gift cards

Sell a gift card

  1. At the till, open the menu and tap Gift card.
  2. Stay on Sell. Tap a value (LKR 1,000, 2,000 or 5,000) or type one.
  3. Choose how the customer pays: Cash, Card or Wallet / QR.
  4. Tap Sell gift card. The till shows the card with its code, a QR code and its value.
  5. Tap Print the slip and give it to the customer.

Selling a gift card needs the internet: every card gets its own code. There is no VAT when a card is sold; VAT is on the goods when it is spent.

Pay with a gift card

  1. Ring up the sale and tap Pay.
  2. Choose Gift card and type or scan the code on the slip.
  3. Tap Take. The till reads what the card holds: if it holds less than the sale, it pays what it holds.
  4. Pay any rest another way and tap Complete sale.

If the till is offline, it takes the code as typed and checks the card when the sale is sent. A card that did not hold enough is marked for the manager to check.

Check a card or add money

  1. Open the menu and tap Gift card.
  2. Choose Check balance, type or scan the code and tap Check to see what the card holds.
  3. To put more on a card, choose Add money, type or scan the code, enter the value, choose how the customer pays and tap Add money.

Voids, returns and the books

Voiding a sale paid with a gift card puts the money back on the card.

Goods bought with a gift card are refunded in cash, by card or as store credit, not back to the card.

What cards still hold is money the shop owes (Gift vouchers outstanding, 2300). Point of sale → Gift cards lists every card with what it holds, when it was sold and last used, and its history. The Z report shows the gift cards sold on the shift, and cash taken for them is in the drawer count.
